Welcome to the BYOD (Build Your Own Domains) movement. These Terms & Policies apply to all websites, platforms, and services operated under the BYOD brand, including but not limited to:


BYOD Movement (campaigns, events, hackathons, sponsorships)

BYOD.Community (open forums, discussions, and free memberships)

BYOD.Club (exclusive premium membership, benefits, and deals)


By participating in any part of the BYOD ecosystem, you agree to the following terms.


1. Terms & Conditions


Acceptance of Terms

Accessing or participating in BYOD platforms constitutes acceptance of these Terms. If you do not agree, please discontinue use.


Eligibility


  • Participants must generally be 18 years or older unless otherwise stated.
  • Special provisions apply for participants under 18 (see Children’s Participation Policy below).


Community Conduct


  • Respectful, professional behavior is required at all times.
  • Harassment, spamming, unlawful activity, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Violations may result in suspension or permanent removal.


Intellectual Property


  • BYOD content, branding, and materials are owned by BYOD unless otherwise noted.
  • Participants retain ownership of original submissions but grant BYOD a royalty-free license to showcase entries, testimonials, or projects for promotional purposes.


Sponsorships & Partnerships


  • Benefits will be provided as per the agreed sponsorship package.
  • BYOD reserves the right to adjust event formats, rewards, or delivery timelines if necessary.


Limitation of Liability

BYOD, its organizers, sponsors, and partners are not liable for any:



  • Loss of income, opportunities, or data.
  • Technical errors, platform interruptions, or third-party service failures.
  • Indirect or consequential damages arising from participation.


Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada, unless otherwise required by mandatory local law.



2. Privacy Policy

Information We Collect


  • Registration details (name, email, contact info).
  • Community activity (posts, interactions, submissions).
  • Payment details for sponsorships, events, or memberships.
  • Analytics (cookies, IP addresses, browsing patterns).


How We Use Information


  • To manage memberships, events, and sponsorship programs.
  • To send newsletters, updates, and marketing communications (opt-out available).
  • To ensure security and compliance with applicable law.


Sharing & Disclosure


  • BYOD does not sell or rent user data.
  • Limited data may be shared with trusted partners or sponsors to facilitate events.
  • Disclosures may occur if legally required.


Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.

Your Rights

3. Refund & Cancellation Policy


  • Sponsorship fees, event passes, and premium memberships are generally non-refundable.
  • If BYOD cancels an event, partial or full refunds may be considered at our discretion.
  • Hackathon prizes, once announced, are final and non-negotiable.


4. Disclaimer



  • BYOD platforms provide educational and community content, not legal, financial, or investment advice.
  • Participation in BYOD does not guarantee sponsorship success, sales, or financial returns.
  • Members and participants should exercise independent judgment before acting on information shared.


5. Cookies Policy


Our websites use cookies to improve user experience, track performance, and deliver personalized content. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality.



6. Section-Specific Clauses


BYOD Movement


Participation in campaigns, hackathons, or events may include specific rules announced for each initiative. BYOD reserves the right to adjust prize amounts, eligibility, or timelines as required.


BYOD.Community

All members must follow the Community Code of Conduct. Misuse of networking tools, harassment, or spam may result in removal. Free memberships provide open access but may include sponsor-related content.


BYOD.Club


Premium membership fees are non-refundable. Exclusive benefits (e.g., hackathon access, sponsor deals, priority invitations) are valid only while membership remains active. Early termination may result in forfeiture of benefits.



7. Children’s Participation Policy


BYOD encourages creativity and learning for the next generation. To ensure safety and legal compliance, the following rules apply:



Under 13


  • Cannot create their own accounts.
  • Participation must be managed by a parent/guardian, who submits entries on their behalf.
  • No personal data will be collected directly from children under 13.


Ages 13–17



  • May participate in events, hackathons, or community activities with verified parental/guardian consent.
  • Any prizes or rewards will be awarded in the parent/guardian’s name.
  • Limited account access may be provided, but parental oversight is required.


Parental Consent



  • Parents/guardians must agree to the child’s participation during registration.
  • BYOD reserves the right to request proof of consent at any time.


Data Protection


  • BYOD does not knowingly store or use children’s personal data beyond what is necessary for participation.
  • Parents/guardians may request deletion of their child’s data at any time by contacting legal@byod.it.com



8. Updates & Contact

BYOD may update these Terms & Policies at any time. Updates will be posted on this page, and continued use of BYOD platforms implies acceptance.
